Rev. Eric Hayward memoir South African immigrant to Birmingham
The Reverend Eric Hayward was born April 12, 1933, in Pretoria in the Republic of South Africa. His mother was an Afrikaner, and his father's family immigrated to South Africa from Britain in the 1820s. Eric attended public school and studied business administration. While in college, he joined the Baptist church and changed his vocational goals. He completed his training at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in the late 1960s.

In his narrative, Eric Hayward discusses his family background, his education and religious training, and his ministries in St. Helena and South Africa.

Recorded in Birmingham on April 16, 1981, as part of the University of Alabama in Birmingham Oral History Research Project.
