Ruby Matthews memoir
Ruby Matthews was born in Brooklyn, Alabama, on April 20, 1916. She began working in 1949, at age thirty-three, in the Evergreen Garment Factory.

In her narrative, Ruby Matthews describes the working conditions for textile workers at the Evergreen Garment Factory and Alatex in Andalusia.

Recorded in Evergreen, Alabama, on April 15, 1975, as part of the University of Alabama in Birmingham Oral History Research Project.
